Discover Dworek Osiecki
For a hundred years, Dworek Osiecki has charmed all who arrive with its architecture and its setting. For several decades it stood at the heart of the Polish avant-garde — a place that drew Tadeusz Kantor, Erna Rosenstein and Julian Przyboś. Across a ten-hectare (10 ha) estate, with its historic park and direct access to Lake Jamno, that artistic tradition lives on: the International Plein-Air Painting Workshops are held here each year. Today Dworek Osiecki is a place for those who seek quiet and authenticity. We still tend the very atmosphere that inspired artists for decades.
The Beginnings
Dworek Osiecki was built in 1924 for Carl Hildebrand. Designed by the architect Schucht, the manor was conceived to bring together the character of a large Pomeranian country house with the stately presence of a residence — qualities underscored by its setting within an expansive English-style park.
Part of the estate was destroyed during the war, but the main manor house was fortunately spared — the very building that would, in time, become a centre of Polish avant-garde art.
The Osieki Art Workshops 1963–1981
The Osieki workshops, formally known as the International Meetings of Artists, Scholars and Art Theorists, were one of the most significant platforms for the Polish avant-garde in post-war Poland. They drew close to four hundred eminent artists and intellectuals from Poland and abroad, among them figures such as Tadeusz Kantor, Erna Rosenstein and Julian Przyboś.
It was here that new ideas and artistic manifestos took shape, and where the lectures and debates were held that would set the direction of art for decades to come.
Dworek Osiecki Today
For more than 30 years Dworek Osiecki has been a place apart — each year we are privileged to offer a haven of calm, away from the bustle of the city and the crowds of the coast alike.
Our estate spans ten hectares (10 ha) with direct access to Lake Jamno. Beyond the main manor, we have two further residential buildings, generous parking and a grill cabin — all set among an abundance of greenery: trees, shrubs and flowers.
We are glad that the artistic tradition remains part of everyday life at Dworek Osiecki. Each year we have the honour of hosting the International Plein-Air Painting Workshops, “A Time and Place for Art”.
The Historic Park
Seven hectares of our estate are given over to the historic park, whose paths lead all the way down to the shore of Lake Jamno.
The park at Dworek Osiecki is a true delight for lovers of nature. Here you will find more than 80 species of trees and shrubs (among them a magnificent 400-year-old London plane, as well as ginkgo, sweet chestnut, copper beech, silver maple, Douglas fir and many, many more). On the way down to the lake, spring brings the scent of wild garlic — an increasingly rare find.
From the fruit of our Grey Reinette apple tree we make the apple cake served in the manor's café.
